Religion De Rigueur

Higher education has become indoctrination in liberalism. The Atlantic Magazine is a leading leftist publication and not the place educated people go for research.  And, Atlantic staff writer, Derek Thompson published a piece peppered with ridiculous ideas wrapped in a universal healthcare plan.  It is a fine example of "Woke" generation intellectualism in search of free stuff.  Derek wrote:

“Although Democrats could potentially even out their Electoral College disadvantage by making big southern states like Texas competitive, they appear doomed in the Senate, which disproportionately empowers rural white populations that overwhelmingly vote Republican."

The GOP now holds both Senate seats in Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Those 11 states have 22 senators who collectively represent less people than California, which has two Senate seats.  This nettles Democrats to no end.

They say, “We have an election system that makes it basically impossible for Democrats’ current coalition to ever wield legislative power,” says polling analyst David Shor.  While that sounds defeatist, consider: In the 2018 midterms, Democrat Senatorial candidates won 18 million more votes than Republicans nationwide.  But the party lost two net Senate seats?

The problem is only going to get worse according to an analysis of Census Bureau data that projected by 2040, half the population will be represented by 16 of the 100 Senators while the other, rural, half will have only 84 Senators.  If Democrats don’t find a way to broaden their coalition into less populous states with smaller metro areas, it may be impossible for them to pass liberal laws. They cannot and will not find their way to because their ideology is repugnant to the great majority of American citizens.

In response, Democrats dream of open borders bringing hoards of immigrants, ever in their debt to be set free from Socialist countries with Democrats not realizing they are natural Republicans!  And as they will work for half the prevailing wages, Republican employers will not oppose the Democrat's skullduggery!

“Residents of Los Angeles and the Bay Area were at least 30 percentage points more likely than other Californians to support propositions like reinstating affirmative action and allowing parolees to vote.

America’s richest and most progressive cities, from San Francisco to New York and Washington, D.C., are filled with young, unmarried, graduates of elite colleges, who have collectively created a philosophy of “Instagram socialism” of highly educated, but not high-earning, urbanites who buy like capitalists but post like Marxists.

Many of their causes are virtuous, like universal health care and higher pay for low-income service workers.  But given the dynamics of online communication like Instagram, socialism usually functions as a mass-pleasing exercise to seize appealing, emotional ideas that no one dare object to or be called “racist,” "Nazi," and “evil.”  Major police reform to these folks has become, "Defund the Police,"as cities burn to the ground.  And, universal health care, a popular idea, is folded into socialism, an unpopular idea Democrats embrace and institutionalize as socialists are building on claiming Cuba has better health care than America and it simply is not true!

Nowhere in American public schools is it taught socialism failed 29 times since the end of WWII as nations from East Germany, Greece, Singapore, Vietnam, China and other Oriental nations on to Central America for several nations there, and to Cuba, once the gem of the Caribbean and now a toilet and not a great gem of the socialist movement, or once proud Venezuela where the people are eating their pets and rats.  Toilet paper can only be seen in museums.

Who do we thank for this river of insanity of international politics in education?  In our schools from small town high schools to Harvard teachers have been “socialized” by a generation of professors who have fallen in love with socialism which always sounds so wonderful, but turned out badly from Plymouth Rock in 1690 to San Francisco in 2020, "sea to shining sea!"  All history teachers know the story, but where they are now dependent on tax money, even in private schools, so pernicious is the demon of Federal grants and stipends there is reverence for big and bigger government. In academia socialism is the religion de rigueur. (required by current fashion)
