Painfully True

Astronomers say they may have discovered a new Neptune-sized planet within a habitable orbit of one of Earth's closest neighbor stars, Alpha Centauri, a binary star system 4.37 light years from Earth which is 25.6 trillion miles.

Where our fastest space rocket, devised for solar probing under the strategy that flying directly to Sol faster would give us more data as it would go deeper before vaporizing in the sun, was 150,000 mph it would take us over 2000 years to get to this planet for a one way trip if we got there.  Hitting anything larger than a grain of sand would destroy the craft instantly.

2000 years is 100 generations so our people arriving would likely not have a clue why they were there.  No recorded instructions would have meaning over that kind of time.  What about sending messages?

A telephone type conversation would have 4.37 years pauses between each side’s utterances.  You would say “Hello,” go away and come back to hear the other side’s “Hello”  four years and 13 days later! Not a conversation.  Sending written messages their linguists could study is about all we can do, and have, with the few deep space probes we have sent to anywhere.

In a paper published in Nature Communications on Wednesday, an international team of astronomers using the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope, VLT, in Chile found a bright thermal imaging signal coming from the habitable zone of Alpha Centauri A which puts into question the term “habitable,” but the highest likelihood is that the pulsing is a natural decay reaction.

Using the term “habitable zone” seems inappropriate as we know nothing of this “planet” or even that it is a planet at all.  Binary stars are long thought to create chaotic areas between them and this body may well turn out to be a big collection of rocks and geologic junk in space in a great “destruction derby” and nothing more.

The paper reporting this body, or collection of dust, dirt and rocks are squeezing into a “planet” we suspect are in search of a grant for further study.  There is no limit to the amount of money they will ask for or the language they will squeeze and stretch into long term project capable of covering the high salaries of government paid Ph.D.’s.  To wit:

“The signal was derived through Near Earths in the Alpha Center Region (NEAR), a $3 million project which hunts for potentially Earth-like worlds around nearby stars.”  And, they are well on their way given...

“The NEAR team upgraded the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope (VLT) with several new technologies, including a thermal coronagraph, an instrument designed to block a star's light and allow the heat signatures of orbiting planets to be spotted. 

After analyzing 100 hours of data gathered by NEAR in May and June of 2019, the scientists detected a thermal fingerprint in the habitable zone of Alpha Centauri A which corresponds to a roughly Neptune-size world.”

“We detected something,” said Pete Klupar, the chief engineer of the Breakthrough Initiatives, which a space project think-tank funded by Yuri Milner, an entrepreneur of Silicon Valley. “It could be an artifact in the machine or it could be a planet, or it could be asteroids or dust.”  This is the most honest statement we have seen in print on a discovery of this kind and thanks to Mr. Yuri Milner as no, or little, public money appears to be involved, 

“Science” is a “Sacred Cow” in western cultures and it has been used, abused and its' own canons violated.  The sword of Damocles we know as “Global Warming” or “Climate Change” is our worst case as we alone have wasted over $1 trillion on this concept that is easily proven false as we have shown in our paper “CO2 Is Innocent” at https://ScienceFrauds.blogspot.com 

Forbes Magazine, the most reliable financial/economic publication we know, said recently resolving the issue will cost $50 trillion!  We think that is an optimistic, low estimate as we will have to crush and bury all of our airplanes, cars, trucks, power plants, and more, return to outhouses and corncobs to be “post-combustion.”  And, add that to our present $29 trillion national debt to which Mr. Biden will add another $30 trillion if he keeps all his promises and our math says "Kaput!"  One of my few German words...

Ironically, we are living in a time when the old Chinese curse, “May you live in interesting times,” has become abundantly true.
