Clueless Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Miss Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, 28, will be the youngest person to serve in the House of Representatives if she wins in November, but she has shown how ready she is for her post by breaking out in a new $3,505 outfit which is just what you need for sitting on your stoop in New York City and watching the world go by.  No one from the press has asked from where all this money came as Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is a recent college graduate in Economics, but her television performances on that topic have been disappointing, if not disastrous, to be polite about them.

In the great Democratic tradition, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez talks about free stuff for the people, particularly "health care" and at least the elimination of the "pre-existing condition" restriction. This practice allows people who learn they have a serious illness to purchase insurance policies and stick the insurance companies for the cost, or at least a major portion of it. 

To our left you will see a simplified chart of the economics of health insurance. We do this for small community of 2,000 adults that range from 20 to 78, the life expectancy of American citizens.  The first column is the age, the second is the premium per person and it increases with inflation at the rate of 3% which is a little low, but it does vary with changes in the economy.

The last column is the insurance company reserve which is a combination of premiums and investment income for the fund.

The point of all this is that insurance is nothing more than a pool of money by these 2,000 people knowing that some will have serious illnesses requiring expensive care.  Others will live long lives, disease free and pass on at age 78 having been sick a short time.

While we can make some predictions as some families are free of disease and others may suffer regularly.  Heart disease and cancer are the kinds of disease that do appear in some families regularly.  We have learned a lot about dealing with regularly occurring illness in families, but this costs money in any case.  The point remains we all should contribute to pools like this for the greater good, but now Democrats want to permit people to sign up when they get sick after having contributed nothing.  They also want illegal aliens to be able to vote, become citizens, get welfare, food stamps, free housing as they will vote Democrat having gotten all this "free stuff" the rest of us pay for, and you thought the Democrats were for the "little guys, downtrodden and minorities."  Sure they are.....

The idea the Democrats are promoting is one that will bring an end to the entire insurance industry as success in "health care," which is profoundly misnamed and should be "sick care," will see the concept bleed into auto insurance where people will decide they do not want to buy car insurance until they have a wreck or home insurance until it is on fire or a tree has fallen on it. 

Meanwhile back on her stoop, Ms. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez waits for someone to come along and help her up so she can wobble on four inch plus Manolo Blahnik stillettos while luxuriating in her $3,505.00 outfit paid for with campaign funds, George Soros or some other Democrat boss or "swampster" proves once again that she does not have a clue.
