DACA: What You Need To Know
Friend:
In light of the recent DACA decision, here is some important information regarding what the changes mean for DACA recipients:
- USCIS is not accepting any new applications for DACA.
- If you have DACA status, it is still valid until it expires.
- Applications for DACA recipients to travel abroad and re-enter the US, also known as advance parole, are no longer accepted. If you travel outside of the United States, you will lose your DACA status.
- If your DACA status expires before March 5, 2018, USCIS must receive your application by October 5, 2017. That gives these DACA recipients only 10 days to apply.
This is complicated and Senator Harris wants Dreamers to be as informed as possible. Ultimately, there is one simple solution the Senator has continuously affirmed, and that is to pass the DREAM Act. Check out the Senator’s op-ed in Univision to learn more about why we must pass the DREAM Act.
This past Monday, Senator Harris's Los Angeles office partnered with O’Melveny and Myers, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), National Immigration Law Center (NILC), and other volunteer attorneys and helped process 44+ DACA renewal applications.
In August, Senator Harris held a DACA Roundtable with Dreamers at the Downtown UCLA Labor Center
Let's continue to support and protect the more than 800,000 young people, including more than 200,000 Californians, who have only ever known the United States of America as their home.

State Director, U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris

Dear Ms. Rodriguez:
I am not surprised that California Senator Kamala Harris is for legalizing the "Dreamers," but there is not another nation on Earth that would not consider them "accessories after the fact" for legal classification even though they were minor children at the time of the commission of the crime of bringing them into America illegally. All 192 nations would deport them in a minute. Where does Kamala get off excusing them? Is she that bad a lawyer?
That is my conclusion as this is not the first time I have seen her work. The first was a few years ago when the California Franchise Tax Board, FTB, took $1,000 from my Bank of America account without legal action or notification of any kind.
The FTB claimed I had made $10,316 more in 2007 than I report to them according to the IRS. I asked for a copy of the notice as I could resolve it with them as it was not true, "...someone has made a mistake." I was told the would not do that as it was illegal! Illegal for me to see IRS notices on my own account? I knew then they were lying.
I began a series of calls and letters to the IRS, getting blanks every way with their telling me they knew nothing about it and could not help in such a situation. I contacted the office of my Congressman as well as my state Assemblyman and Senator getting the most help from the state Senator's office where I was told, "...a lot of this is going on..." but they would go any farther than that.
I called the Attorney General's office and was surprised to get Kamala on the phone as I had by then well documented the problem (See http://adrianvanceshow.blogspot.com/2014/01/normal-0-false-false-false.html ) and had found over 100 people who had the same experience as I! She was amazingly unimpressed and I had the feeling that I was not telling her anything she did not know. The call ended on a blank note. As far as I could tell she did not want to hear what I had to say or examine my documentation.
My estimate is that the California Franchise Tax board is playing this game to the tune of $1 billion annually. Their favorite targets are the elderly as they are easily frightened and feel weak in the path of CFB machine. In this case Kamala was of no help; zero, zip, nada! If she is the nominee for President it can only be the last chapter of the history of the Democratic Party.
