I wince every time I recall I was a Democrat and voted for John F. Kennedy, but when he stood on a podium before a massive crowd and said, "We choose to go to the Moon, not because it is easy, but because it is hard." I felt a twinge rather like that of hearing and feeling a tire explode while on the freeway at 70 mph with my wife and two kids in the car surrounded by 18 wheelers. On three levels I sank, jerked and gasped. That's how I became a Republican. I thank JFK and still broke down when he was assassinated.
Not only was it idiotic to go to the moon, but choosing to do something because it is hard is stupid! Everything on the moon is under our feet right here on Earth, save Helium 3, and we can make it here in nuclear reactors far cheaper. While there is no use for it today, but in the future fusion reactors, we only think it will be fuel in fusion reactors that will cause all environmentalists to fade away. No science is fact until experiments prove it. "Peer review" means nothing, but government grants. They are entirely political.
That incident was my introduction to stupidity in Federal form from politicians as I realized they were only saying such things for favor and more of our money. It was a lesson well-learned in my early 20's.
There must be a secret, or at least an unrecognized force, or factor, driving these people or they are just more susceptible, or driven, for success than are we. How do they go through the day, even if only occasionally, having the thought, "What if they figure out that I am lying to them, stealing from them, and a scoundrel?
The people that try to repress, and now succeed, crushing a man who writes and illustrates children's books bought by young mothers for their children, should be asking, "What the Hell are the "liberals" all about?" And if we are witnessing the death of liberalism and I say "Praise the Lord" while not a Bible thumper, but I have one and use it for research as it is one of our foundational documents and a toolbox for scoundrels like Elmer Gantry and Joshua Olstein. But there is a new wind in the Willows.
If you watch TV you have noticed now all couples in commercials are mixed race. Next door neighbors are black if the principle actors are both white. Orientals are under-represented and no one yet, in my viewing, has a Yak for a house pet and it must be because Yaks don't buy beer, makeup or pillows.
Television has never represented reality even in the days of the Nelsons who actually lived not far my Hollywood home in Nichols Canyon, 50 years ago. David married and had a home just off Mulholland Drive I passed by it on my daily bike ride. He was a pleasant neighbor, laid back and conversational. That day is gone as is much of what made America great. Now everyone seems to have gone more than a little nuts.
Adrian Vance
Excellent, Adrian. I really enjoyed the read despite
ReplyDeletethe fact that it's quite depressing...jd
Thank you and I just made a couple of typo corrections on reading it this morning. It is depressing indeed, but I think thins will change as Biden is making every mistake he can as fast as he can and the Navarro Study has not yet been realized and when the states start acting on it the poo-poo will hit the propeller.
ReplyDeleteThe Woke crowd are nothing but bullies. It's time for all who get bullied by them to stand up and tell them to go to hell [sorry for using the phrase].
ReplyDeleteIf you read the Navarro Report, the Wall Street Journal analysis of the $1.9 trillion "stimulous" bill and say it is 91% "pork," political payoffs! My only objection to your using "Hell" is that you didn't capitalize it. We have high standards here on the Two Minute Conservative.
ReplyDeleteAdrian-- Politicians do not believe they are lying, stealing and a scoundrel. They believe they are telling their side of the story, reapportioning and that they are our saviors. I sold Kirby vacuum cleaners for a few months. After a while I could not bring myself to sell one for 1000 dollars when I knew they were barely worth 50. All politicians are is good Vacuum cleaner salesmen.
ReplyDeleteI am reminded that I sold cookware after dropping out of college when I found my dream of being a chemist was one of a grim future in a white lab coat, but that experience taught me how to teach and Admiral Rickover led me to teaching with his books in 1958. That is how life works if you pay attention. You could buy a near new car for that $1,000 in the 50's so your values were in place. I may have overstated the evil of politicians, but it felt good.
