My Last Shot?

Adrian Vance 1974

Dear Friends:

I found a way into the system and am sure Google will plug this hole in the same way they locked me out of 14 blogs, most of which were experimental, some referential, i.e. with pieces I could never get published anywhere else, like the list with stories of the 50 some associates of the Clintons that had untimely deaths.

The picture above was taken by Yoram Kahana in Hollywood in 1974 for my book "UFOs: The Eye And The Camera" and I am there adjusting a very successful filmstrip mastering camera that saved my financial fanny at a low point and led to many other things from meeting J. Alan Hynek, who was intrigued with my ideas of the UFO phenomena, a one hour call from Jackie Gleason, who was a serious UFO believer and scholar, an invitation to contribute to a Smithsonian Institution article on navigation in antiquity and a place in the literature thereof for having rediscovered how Captain James Cook mapped the South Pacific placing islands so accurately their positions were not improved until satellites were used for mapping!  Putting it here is an act of defiance as someone at Google has ended my contributions that over five million people have enjoyed, learned from or been irritated by.

Irriation can be a positive force as irritated people may elect a positive action and learn something as a result of the irritation, come back with facts or learn more.  He rarely apologizes, but he learns either way and especially when wrong.

Not so with my Google antagonist.  He has quenched my work, brought it to an end and this moment may be my last shot, but not in the realm of writing, ideas and education.

These blogs take time and I have three books that I must write before I leave the mortal coil and perhaps this incident is the way the gods are telling me to "Get with it."  And, I say "gods" as this dimension is surely run by a committee.  No single entity could make such a mess.

My college professor father's favorite expression was, "If you really want to screw something up, turn it over to a committee of college professors!"  Ironically, he was on the most important committee on the campus of ISU, the APT Committee, Appointment, Promotion and Tenure.  They hired, promoted and awarded tenure to some real "doozies."

I cannot tell you more of the three books I must do as books. like babies, must begin in darkness, hearing only one voice until they are ready.  See you around the campus!
