Democrats are playing a very dangerous game for their party and the nation by demonizing Russia. They apparently think they can do it as Russia is far away and weak internationally. The DNC must realize we have them over a barrel; literally barrels of "LNG," Liquified Natural Gas and are building a port facility in Boston from which we could ship enough LNG to Europe and "strangle the bear." This is Mr. Trump's big bargaining chip and the reason we say he is the last man Mr. Putin wanted to see as President of the United States.
What the Democrats are doing is not enough to cause the Russians to attack us, but we must never forget they are the only nation on the planet that could turn us into three million square miles of radioactive ash in one hour, but it will never happen. Why, you ask?
In a strange irony only economics could create, we are the reason Russia is as politically stable as it is today. The more we learn of politics and economics, the more we appreciate grain. It is the basis of everything: The food and fiber source without which no society can last very long. The only items more critical are air and water.
Russia has three grain producing areas; all are north of Chicago and subject to frequent crop failures as they often do not have the 120 "degree days" needed to mature corn and wheat. It is the abundance of our grain harvest that reduces the price of international grain that allows Russia to weather it's own weather. If all three grain areas fail Russia knows America will bail her out, as we have and such are our values. We did it before and will do it again. They count on it.
If Russia's grain crop had a even minor failure and America was not producing it would only be a matter of weeks until mobs would attack the Kremlin and put the Duma (legislature) members on pikes in the manner of Vlad the Impaler. It is this nightmare that haunts President Putin because Russian weather-controlled agriculture is a clockwork mechanism with regular, built-in glitches.
Nonetheless, they are a proud, fierce people with a degree of resolve far beyond ours as they were forged in a war the horrors of which we cannot imagine, but they remember. Nonetheless...
Despite Communism there is much potential between us. Russia is 11 time zones of undeveloped land where we are barely four. They have no real idea of the wealth they have from a combination of myopic central planning and a vastness that has kept them ignorant. Our technology could change that.
Russia is a third world nation with a first world military. Had they aimed all of that time and technology at their potentials with a free market the world would be a very different place today. Existing agricultural technology could treble their harvest and attenuate the worst effects of their climate. Massive greenhouse technology, with CO2 supplementation, could give them two crops where they are lucky to get one and each producing three times as much grain as they now get from one, sometimes... They could feed the world if our farmers were running those farms.
As long as the sun shines they can capture energy and grow green plants profitably with the right technology. With our science they could be a food exporter in perpetuity and there is no greater tool than food if you want to spread your ideas.
We have a far greater potential in helping them succeed than in forcing them to "nuke rattle." A man like Donald Trump, with a focus on business and building is holding the key to a far better world than one we have known, but we must overcome the forces of darkness within, the Democratic Party. That is the Russian-American equation.
