A Note From Al Franken

You've probably heard Adrian -- but President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, the man in charge of investigating Trump, his campaign, and his administration for their possible ties to Russia. The White House initially said it was because of Comey's handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails. Which seemed strange to me, because Trump didn't seem to mind during the campaign. I'm also disturbed that Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who recused himself from the Russia investigation, advised the president to fire Comey. This was a complete betrayal of his vow to recuse himself. This story just keeps getting more and more twisted. It's time that the Justice Department appoint a special prosecutor, someone outside of all of the politics -- to find out exactly what Russia did during the 2016 election and what ties exist between Russian officials and the Trump administration. Al ------------------------ Dear Al: Mr. Trump has said he has no businesses in Russia, which I assume includes partnerships and it should not take 24 hours to confirm this through Russian public documents regarding businesses incorporated in Russia.  In typical fashion, the FBI guys are milking this one for Cavier and Vodka dreams. The White House did not say the Comey firing was because of Hillary Clinton's emails.  Mr. Trump has said it was for the sum of things and the emails were a part of it.  It was the Democrats who wanted Comey removed for exposing many of Hillary's violations only to excuse her for "lack of intent."  Tell that to the men and women in prison for having killed people "driving under the influence."  They certainly had no intent of killing people, but are in prison nonetheless. With his "no reasonable prosecutor" excuse Mr. Comey sent Hillary a signal, "I work for you," as he thought she would win, as did all of DC.  By late October, when Mr. Trump was looking very strong Huma Abadeen gave Comey a gift he could not pass so he sent a signal to Donald Trump.  In Jim Comey we are dealing with a six foot, eight inch skunk.
