Republicans are no longer on California ballots since Democrats passed a California Constitutional revision putting the "top two primary vote getters on the ballot." That effectively outlawed the Republican Party. Meanwhile back in Washington, DC the elected ruling class continue wallowing in self-awarded largess. Consider:
*Salary of retired US Presidents . . ... . . . .. . $180,000 FOR LIFE.
*Salary of House/Senate members . . . . .. . . . $174,000 FOR LIFE.
*Salary of Speaker of the House .. . . . .. . . . . $223,500 FOR LIFE.
*Salary of Majority / Minority Leaders . . . . . $193,400 FOR LIFE.
Meanwhile for us:
*Average Salary of a teacher . . .. . . . . . . .. .$40,065 not for life.
*Average Salary of a deployed Soldier . . .. .. $38,000 not for life.
“I could end the deficit in five minutes," Mr. Trump is reported to have told CNBC. "Just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election."
*The 26th Amendment granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds took only three months and eight days to be ratified! Why? The people demanded it. That was in 1970, before computers, e-mail and cell phones that have really empowered the people with information such that no one has an excuse for not knowing what is going on in Washington, DC.
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven took one year or less to become the law of the land all because of public pressure.
President Trump is asking each reader to forward this message to twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. Where 1,000 will see it here if that happens in four days we could inform every voter in America with the concept:
Congressional Reform Act of 2017
1. No Tenure, no Pension. A Congress member collects a salary while in office and receives no salary out of office.
2. Congress, past, present and future participate in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement go to the Social Security system. Future funds go to the Social Security Trust Fund, and Congress members become ordinary citizens, not our royalty.
3. Congress men and women may purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
4. Congress may no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise and fall with Social Security.
5. Congress lose their current health care system and participate in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
7. Congress persons shall be limited to one term.
All of the problems this nation has are attributable to Congress and the fact that it has become poisoned with seniority and corruption. We feel a rapid turnover of the Congress and limitations on the terms of all government workers is in the interest of the nation.
