Senator Al Franken?

Adrian,

President Trump has a Russia mess on his hands.

We all know now that General Flynn lied about his connections and discussions with the Russian government. He was right to resign his post as National Security Advisor.

But Flynn’s resignation isn’t the end. For all we know, Flynn’s just the fall guy.

Back in 2008, Donald Trump Jr. told a real estate conference that “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets… We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”

Since we haven’t seen Trump’s tax returns, we have no reason to believe that’s changed.

Reports say that during the campaign, Trump staffers had “repeated contacts” with the Russians.

We all deserve to know about all of the Trump administration’s ties with Russia. I’m calling for an independent, bipartisan investigation into the Trump administration’s connections with Russia. Join me.

Vladimir Putin has been at the head of Russian political life for decades. He’s jailed political opponents, journalists, and activists. Under his leadership, Russia invaded Crimea. They’ve passed bigoted anti-LGBTQ laws. His government hacked into American systems to undermine our elections.

Yet Donald Trump, time and again, has defended Putin and his government.

Donald Trump is cozying up to one of the despots of the world. We don’t know why. We do know that at least one of Trump’s confidants, Flynn, has been forced to resign because of his connections with Russia. We deserve to know what else there is.

Demand Congress investigate Trump’s ties with Russia. We deserve to know.

Thank you, Al

Dear Al:

You and your buddies claim "17 US intelligence bureaus say the Russians hacked into our election to elect Donald Trump," but on "Meet The Press" March 3, 2017 former Director James Clapper, who was in charge of those agencies said they had no evidence.

This has been quite obvious for a long time as none has revealed, not one bureau has made a statement claiming such and three of the 17 bureaus are prohibited by law in making such investigations within the borders of the United States.

It should be clear to you by now that if you get your wish and an independent prosecutor will find nothing, hand the taxpayers a bill for several million Dollars, which the Republicans will wail about loudly and longly, infuriating the electorate and more Democrats will lose their seats in 2018.
