This was easily the most contentious election in modern US politics, which we say only because in the 19th century dueling was allowed, and maybe we should bring it back. It would simplify our "election cycles," which have become tedious, disruptive, expensive and a real distraction from things people want to do.
This election has been in progress 15 months with every kind of off event anyone could imagine. That Mr. Trump won is great for America, but he has a huge job ahead to heal the nation and we can only hope he will have the help of all.
