The Great Debate was a win for Donald even though it lacked the drama many were hoping for. Mr. Trump let a few opportunities go by, but his points were so strong on the deficit, NATO and Japan free-loading on defense, China's currency manipulations, stupid trade deals like NAFTA, bad tax policy driving corporations, banking and investment offshore, etc.
The one real opportunity Mr. Trump missed was when he got Mrs. Clinton to say "...it was a mistake and I take responsibility for that." He could have planted a sword saying, "...so you resigned and stood for trial and went to prison for 30,000 national security felonies? Are you aware, Mrs. Clinton you are no longer able to get a security clearance?" While that is no true until she has been convicted it is the kind of thing you do a debate for effect.
I feel very good about this debate. It may not have cinched the election for Mr. Trump, but it definitely moved the Trump ball forward.
Hillary looked well and did nothing indicating any serious health problems, which was a big plus for her as the Internet is full of speculations regarding her health.
It was too much to hope this debate would deliver the election to Donald Trump, but it certainly did move his ball forward and cast more doubt on Hillary. She looked small, relatively weak and not capable compared to Mr. Trump and it was not just the physical sex difference, but her jibes seemed contrived, particularly those of his income taxes. He did give a quick, but inadequate, explanation of the business bankruptcy process which is designed to protect the
interests of the vendors. He could deliver that fact in a few words.
This is still a horse race, and there is nothing more exciting than seeing a galloping group of thoroughbreds on the home stretch pounding the earth to the finish line and that is where we are today.
