How long will it be before a garage or basement tinkerer/inventor comes up with a laser or microwave pistol the fries the brain of any would-be rapist, robber or radical?  That will send the elected ruling class into actual work to get new laws passed that do not step on microwaves, CD players, lecture pointers and golf swing analyzers! (gasp!)  

I can write patent applications faster than Congress make laws and I am only one inventor. And, I will donate my time to anyone seeking to patent a new weapon for the people. There are millions of us in America.  25% of all patents are written by non-lawyer civilians and not patent attorneys.  Let the fun begin!
