Were You, Mr. President?

At the Republican convention four years ago, folks thought it was pretty out there when my opponent decided to have an actor lecture an empty chair on stage.

But given who they're about to nominate for president, a stunt like that could rank pretty low on the list of strange and outrageous incidents we see this week in Cleveland.

Because this time, the Republicans are going to spend the week talking about building a wall on the Mexican border and banning people based on their religion. They're going to talk about policies that stack the deck even further in favor of millionaires and billionaires, while claiming to be in it for the little guy.

And if the thing four years ago with the chair was laughable, those ideas are dead serious -- as is the harm they would do if we let them get enacted.

So here's what I need from you, Adrian: I need you to chip in $3 to Democrats right now to show the world that those values are not American values.

The Republicans will attack everything we stand for at their convention -- they'll also attack Hillary. They'll question her integrity and her character. They'll hurl insults at her and tell lies about her record. They'll drag her name through the mud, because that's the only way they'll convince anyone to vote for their nominee.

I know Hillary can take it. She won't back down from this fight. But I also know that in this moment, she needs her team. She needs you.

The Republican convention will show voters how wrong the GOP's ideas are for Americans -- and that Hillary is the president we need. My faith in Hillary has always been rewarded. Today, I'm asking you to show her and Democrats everywhere that you have faith in them, too.

Dear Barack:

Always nice to hear from you, but Clint Eastwood is not just "an actor."  He is a very well known performer, director and former Mayor of Carmel, California and he played to an empty chair to denote you had not been present, or paying attention, to an issue that would be addressed by a responsible, competent President.

Enforcing our laws and banning people who come here to subjugate or kill us, per the Qur'an, is not a "strange and outrageous incident."  It is the new kind of war that attacks civilians directly, not the people who are protecting them. Dealing with new kinds of threats is part of the job of being President, which is always capitalized as is Senator or Representative.

No one has to attack Hillary.  The Republicans only have to recite her record.  The "Russian Reset" button gag was embarrassing.  She could have gotten a "Joy Buzzer" from Johnson and Smith in Florida and gotten a bigger laugh and maybe throw in a Whoopee Cushion to sneak under Putin's seat cushion and then guffaw at him when the fart sound is heard.  She's a joke and her one real foreign policy move was the invasion of Lybia, killing Kadafi, who we had under control, and turn it into an Al Qaida stronghold.  Do you think we watch MSNBC, or something?

Hillary's handling of Benghazi, ignoring 600 requests for more armed guards and security systems, is a matter of public record. What has not been reported was her order that the guards should carry empty weapons and no bullets so she could tell the Libyians that in order they not feel threatened or be offended.  She did everything but put out "Gun Free Zone" signs and a welcome mat in Arabic saying, "Welcome El Qaida."

Hillary's emails to her daughter and public statements prove she lied about Benghazi to everyone, including you, unless you were in on the coverup.  Were you, Mr. President?
