Michael Master Analysis

Just how biased is the media?

An analysis by Michael Master, contributor extraordinaire'.

Some say that the attacks by Chris Wallace on Trump in the first debate were an anomaly.... that Chris Wallace was provoked by Trump.    but is that true?

If you watched the two town halls of Trump and Biden on NBC and ABC on Thursday, Oct 15, then you must have noticed the difference in how the media treated the two candidates.

NBC had Trump sitting on a stool with no back support.  Savanah Guthrie actually argued with Trump.  She shouted at Trump.  She devoted more than half of the hour to the China virus.  She debated Trump instead of moderating a town hall.  She spent the first 22 minutes of the hour grilling Trump  and arguing with Trump before she allowed any questions from voters.... and this was billed as a town hall.   No Questions were asked that allowed Trump to discuss the huge economic accomplishments by Trump or the huge international accomplishments of Trump.  No question was asked of Trump about Biden.  Not one questioner was an actual Trump supporter.

Trump made two mistakes.  He should have stopped Guthrie in the first five minutes and asked for questions from the town hall participants as this was billed as a town hall and not a debate between Guthrie and Trump.  And if that didn't work, then Trump should have gotten up and left the stage.

ABC had Biden sitting in a white leather easy chair as if he was talking to you in your living room.   George Stephanopoulos treated Biden with kid gloves.  Soft spoken.  Several of the participants were self proclaimed Biden fans.  And virtually no time was spent on his dealings with Ukraine, Burisma, Russia, and China and how his son made millions of dollars off access to Joe as VP of the USA.

No questions were asked about his role in the illegal actions by Comey, Clapper, Brennan, and Clinton with the Steele dossier and the false accusations about Trump colluding with Russia to affect the 2016 election.  No one asked Biden about how Democrats fought an orderly transfer of power with their "resist" movement since the day that Trump was elected.  Instead, Biden was asked about Trump instead of having to defend his own previous actions.

"What do you think about Trump when he did this?"  "What do you think about Trump when he did that?"  No one challenged Biden about his inconsistencies about fracking, the military, China exploitation of the USA, and about the dismal economic record of the Obama/Biden team vs the first three years of Trump/Pence. His answers on all those topics went unchallenged.

Bias against Trump vs bias to help Biden?  While George Stephanopoulos only interrupted Biden two times in their hour and 40 minutes, Guthrie interrupted Trump continually in their total 57 minutes.   1:40 vs 57.   Biden was allowed to finish all his answers while Trump was cut off constantly by Guthrie just as Chris Wallace did in the first debate.

Do you want a little more proof of media bias against conservatives and especially Trump?  How about how the media is trying to downplay the emails about Biden concerning Burisma, Ukraine, China, and Russia?   No discussion about content of those emails.  None.  Just like they did with the emails of Clinton in 2016.   Look at these headlines from the Washington Post.  They show the bias that the media uses every day that was just on display at the two town halls.

  1. Just read a column on Yahoo finance where This idiot claimed that Trumps GDP numbers were worse than any presidents so far. What an idiot his graph showed the truth. Trump was beating all the presidents except Clinton until the start of the Covid 19 scare package. Clintons numbers were due to the contract with America and had nothing to do with his personal policies. Trump on his own with huge deterrence from Congress took us from a horrible economy to a great one. This guy is the blind man in a room of sighted people.

  2. Unfortunately you can do just about anything you want with numbers, and the 31% improvement Trump is bragging about is an overstatement, but accurate in this strange situation. Given how Trump expressed it, he is right You are dead-on right about Gingrich Contract With America saving Clinton's butt. His first year the economy declined about 2% and was headed down. Newt won the mid-term, took over the House and produced the Contract With America and Clinton signed seven of the ten bills in the package and enjoyed great success thereafter and now brags about it.

  3. Great writing, Mr. Masters and Mr. Vance. Clear, concise, and on point.
Terrible that more so-called "journalists" cannot produce on a level approaching this commentary.

  4. Thank you for appreciating a sharp pen. I see far too much "tease" journalism today where the writers deliberately drag you through a grass, swamp, or whatever, getting to the point! Authors achieve nothing by dragging readers through contrived text that serves no purpose in getting to the point.

  5. Today's "tease" journalism is a sign of the "reporters" inability to think critically -and a secondary sign of their immaturity IMHO. \
Add to that the motives of their editors and management and, well... you get the picture we have today.
